The SAG Awards Experiance...

As all of you who religiously read my blog, follow me on instagram, or are friends with me on facebook know, I went to the SAG Awards yesterday! Man oh man it was one inspiring experience. I sat on the bleachers on the red carpet with Jenny's and now also my friend Johnny! The people sitting in front of us said that our commentary was hilarious and that we could be the new hosts of E! I couldn't agree more.
Ladies and gentleman Ashley Nunes and Johnny McKay
This was an amazing, crazy, wild, inspiring day! First we arrived at the USC parking structure around noon and we waited for them to shuttle us over to the Shrine Auditorium where the awards show was going to take place. Once we arrived we went through a very strict security screening, metal detectors galore! Then we were given some sweet goody bags with a water bottle, an issue of People magazine, mascara, lip gloss, and most importantly a bag of kettle corn. This was the most important part because as usual I forgot to prepare some kind of snackage not remembering that I was going to be there for a solid five hours. However once the celebrities started arriving my hunger was the last thing on my mind. Wow...okay so let's start with how beautiful everyone was. Those men are the red carpet were MEN. Tall, handsome, built, well dressed, well groomed. *Pardon me while I swoon* Let's not forget to mention all the beautiful women! They inspired me to stop eating crap and start running more...or at all...it's a process but we'll get there. Here's an example of just a few of the lovely ladies I saw.
Julianne Moore was like, "I'm sorry I can't come sign autographs I have to wait in line to be photographed."
Jennifer Garner has been one of my female idols since I was a child and 13 Going on 30 was released.
Ellie Kemper is a new actress idol I have, and she looked stunning in this dress!!
I will now share some hilarious stories from my time on the other side of the red carpet. First of all I must tell you about the three wonderful crying 12 year olds that were in front of us. THEY WERE THE BEST! Any time a celebrity would look over and see them crying the girls would just call their names and they HAD to rush over and sign autographs and take pictures with them! Thanks to these little girls I got a lot of wonderfully close celeb photos...

These are all good...but none of them could beat the fabulous photo I got of Darren Criss...

Thank you screaming crying girls. You rock.

Another hilarious red carpet moment was when Justin Timberlake arrived. My initial thought was, "Oh my god, this is like when I saw Britney Spears, my entire childhood is flashing before my eyes." Then before I could even begin to remember how fabulous it was that Jessica Biel wore a pink wedding dress on their big day. The woman next to Johnny and I exploded with, "IT'S JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE!!!!! OH MY GOD!!! JUSSSTTIIIIIIINNNNN COME HERE!!!" We couldn't help but burst into laughter, the best part of this is that it continued until Justin was right in front of us. Now some sad news, that woman did not get an autograph from Justin...but you bet those crying little girls in the front who weren't even an idea when NSYNC was around sure did.

More red carpet photos as I transition to another story.

An even funnier red carpet moment is when we tricked everyone into thinking that Spencer was a celebrity. Spencer is another friend of Jenny's who was lucky enough to be a PA for the day and have red carpet access yesterday. As he walked by on the red carpet yesterday Johnny and I began screaming, "OH MY GOD IT'S SPENCER SMITH!!!" Then everyone, kid you not, everyone began snapping photos of him as if he was the up and coming star on Glee. One woman actually yelled, "I GOT IT! I GOT THE PICTURE!!"

I snagged this great photo of him!

The rest of the time Johnny and I plotted about how we were going to make our way to the red carpet next year, not sitting in the bleachers. We're thinking we got there because of a series that we star in which was picked up by hmmmm let's say Fox for now. It begun as a webseries that Jenny, Johnny, and I wrote, starred in, directed, and produced. Lena Dunham and Mindy Kaling style. Then every single network wanted to have it but we had to be very selective with who we went with. Then Fox gave us the funds to make the amazing show we have which is now nominated for best comedy series. We also made a pact to stop and wipe the tears of any crying little girls, it's only right.

Now I will post the rest of my red carpet photos for those of you who didn't see them on my instagram yesterday. I would like you to imagine some beautiful slow montage music in the background and you should scroll in slow motion.

Yeah I picstiched it together there's only two, that's why I told you to scroll in slow motion.

Well I shall now leave you to ponder who was best dressed,
Ashley

The Los Angeles Juice Cleanse

Juice cleanses, fasting, being a vegan, or a vegetarian, diet after diet. Los Angeles is notorious for tiny women and men who don't eat anything because of the industry. I however am not one of those women, I live across the street from Porto's bakery and I can't resist going at least once a week to get something heavenly like a chocolate croissant! On Monday my roommate and I began Dr. Oz's three day juice cleanse. The thing about Jenny and I cleansing is that we're both Portuguese women who need actual food to survive, not a bunch of vegetables blended together to make a so called "smoothie." We're determined women and all of that but when it comes to pounding headaches and fainting spells we call it quits for some real food. So our juice cleanse lasted until last night when we gave in for some sweet potatoes and artichokes! Eating food last night was beautiful, Jenny described it as, "Us renewing our vows with food!"

Another wonderful thing in my life right now is that I will be attending the SAG Awards this year!! My fabulous roommate is the executive assistant for Jeff Margolis Productions, he is the producer and director of the SAG Awards. So thanks to my roommate this Sunday I will be sitting in the bleachers on the red carpet! I will be across the way from Access Hollywood's camera set up, so I will pretty much see everyone because the stars are morally obligated to stop and be interview by Giuliana Rancic! I couldn't be more excited, it's going to be an amazing to see my future flash before my eyes, I'm going to have to resist my Charlie's Angels happy dance.

In other news I have acquired yet another job, that's right I am now at a total of four jobs. I am a bridal consultant for David's Bridal, sales associate at Gap, weekend party entertainer, and now I am an employee at the small vintage store down the street from my apartment. Now when I say a small vintage clothing store I mean small like the employees are myself, my boss/owner of the store, and her dog Jule. The store is called The Age of Innocence, we have some pretty cool vintage clothing. It's not the most entertaining job but I'm making money and I wouldn't be doing anything else Tuesday and Thursday from 12-4.

I realize that I haven't talked about little Sophie is quite a while! You'll all be happy to know that she is doing just fine and she's still adorably small. I've also recently discovered that her one true love in life is water, her happy place is the sink.

Enjoy the rest of your day with thoughts of kittens in the sink,
Ashley

Girls Girls Girls

For those of you who haven't watched the HBO series Girls, you're out of your mind. I started watching the series after the Golden Globes, where Lena Dunham was awarded Best Actress in a Comedy Series and the show also won Best Comedy Series! Who run the world?

Another thing that I highly recommend is power yoga. Come to the class prepared to work so hard you won't be able to move the following day, but also be prepared to be entertained. My roommate Jenny and I went to power yoga on Tuesday night and we had a glorious time with a hilarious instructor. *Just so you can get a visual* this guy is a huge, ripped, black man. I don't even know if I can do this guy any justice while describing how funny he was. He did this thing where he would vocalize what we were thinking and then respond like, "AHHH I HATE YOU" "No ya don't" "YOU BASTARD, WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?" "You wanna look good don't you?" He also talked a lot about Compton. At one point in the class he said, while smacking his ass, "I ONLY DEAL WITH COMPTON!!" He did this of course to tell us that he'll make sure we have big beautiful asses by the end of this!

More life recommendations by Ashley Nunes include Apple Crisp...do it. My roommate found a pretty healthy recipe for it online which we tried last night....mmmmmm. This would not be complete without a scoop of vanilla fro yo on top!

There's one more thing on my list of must do's for you...Porto's bakery/cafe. You must go there, I've never had anything there that I didn't love! Today for lunch I had a Southwest chicken salad and chi tea latte. Mmmmmm, another one of my personal favorites from there are the mashed potato balls. What's that? Well it's a meatball covered in mashed potatoes and then deep fried....like what? Heaven I tell you, simply heaven.

I must now unfortunately leave you, but I left you with quite a bit of homework. Girls, Power yoga, apple crisp, and Porto's.

Good luck,
Ashley

Delayed New Years Post

Nine days into January and I’m just now writing about the New Year. Well congrats everyone, we made it through another year! The rumors of the world ending in 2012 proved to be untrue. Whew. Now for the official New Years resolutions, first and most importantly, I shall GET FAB ACTRESS BOD. It’s happening, ladies and gents Ashley Nunes and Jenny Wise will be getting their actress bod’s this year and we will be unfairly attractive women after that.

image
We will be the girls who rock in back...

This year I will read more, I’ve begun that with Mindy Kaling’s book Is everyone hanging out without me? (And other concerns) I like it, nope, love it. I love hearing everything that she has to say about her childhood, growing up, and becoming successful. The only part of her book that concerns me is when she says, “Don’t peak in high school.” She goes on to talk about how people who were losers in high school often do well in life and people who were popular and successful in high school go on to be losers in life. That terrifies me. High school was great to me, I had wonderful friends and I was a theatre major so I got to do what I love every single day. I just hope I didn’t peak yet.

Well maybe we didn't, we were kind of weird.
I will not put a glass of water on my night stand at night because the cats will just knock it over at 7:30 every single morning. I’m switching to water bottles, this way when the knock it over I won’t care because it won’t make a mess.
I will be THE best bridal consultant that David’s Bridal in Burbank has ever seen! I love, love, love my new job. All of the women there are so nice and everyone is looking out for everyone else, it’s really sweet. It’s also  a really happy  job which is what I need in my life, more happiness. I mean who wouldn't want to have a little bit of happy crazy bride in their life everyday?
Say yes to the dress with pockets for snacks

This year I will also be dating more guys. Not so many committed relationships but just some fun dating. I’m way too safe with my love life and I think that it’s time I let go and just see what comes of it. *Also side note my roomie Jenny has these cool Russian fortune telling cards, she read mine for the new year and they said that this year I will meet the love of my life* WHAT?! That’s crazy, I wonder where he is and what he’s doing right now.
Last but not least I want to be more like Audrey Hepburn, my own version of her obviously but I want nothing more than to be as classy and beautiful as she was. Also I WILL be the actress they use when they make the movie about her life.
Happy New Year,
Ashley
